I can’t tell you how many times I had to go back to a candidate and ask them to format their resume in the correct view.
For example if you work with word and make your resume look nice using word fonts and formating and the hiring manager uses a MAC when he opens your resume its going to look like a mess, the spacing is going to be wrong and in some cases the font will be unreadable.
For a recruiter not to be able to open a resume that is sent, it can be very frustrating, especially when they need to get a resume over to a hiring manager or BDM quickly because they want to review it.
Remember, your recruiter has viewed your resume and is selling you to their client or BDM so they need to have the correct format before they send your resume over.
Formatting your resume to PDF is the best way, this allows a recruiter to open your resume for review. I know we have all been guilty of sending a resume over in the wrong format simply because we were in a hurry, or just plain forgot to format it.
Take the few extra minutes to format your resume. It will save everyone time.
And don’t forget to make sure your resume is presented in the best possible way for ease of viewing and reading.
