With AI in place you will see positions that you may not be right for but feel you apply anyway. Take the time to read the job description. Bullets that are highlighted or in bold capital letters are there for a specific reason.
They designate where the position is, whether it is remote, hybrid or on-site. Some positions are remote but remote in a certain geographical area. A job description that is fully remote will state that it is 100% remote.
Hybrid roles are becoming very popular now which means it is on site a certain number of days and remote the rest. This means that you need to be in the area of where the company is located.
On-site means exactly what it says, in office 5 days per week. Don’t try and apply to a position that says on-site and then tell the recruiter that you only want remote.
Recruiters are flooded daily with resumes and applications and they have to drill down to eliminate the ones that either don’t fit the position, or are not in the area that the client wants.
A recruiter is your first contact for a position and you want to establish a good relationship with them, by applying to a position that you are not in the right location or not the right fit for doesn’t help you establish a relationship which you may need down the road.
Read the job description throughly before reaching out.
