IS IT REALLY YOU ON THAT INTERVIEW

Since the pandemic has made remote work more feasible and necessary, interviews are being conducted by video.

While it doesn’t happen very often, I have seen a few instances of where the candidate interviewing on the video is not the person who actually applied for the position.

Sounds crazy right, but it does happen and as a recruiter I can say that when it happened to me, both of those candidates were put on my do not use list.

Having someone else take an interview for you is the most unprofessional thing that any candidate can do.

So you get the job and think that no ones knows that you are not the same person that was on the video interview because it is a remote position and you don’t have any contact with your manager.  Think again, your manager will know after the first week if you are really qualified for the position they hired you for, and 99% of the time you will not be.

That is when you will lose your position, and we all know how small a world recruiting is so you now run the risk of your reputation.

This may sound like something that is way out in left field, but it does happen.
