FIRST DAY OF A NEW JOB

For most of us, the first day on a new job can be worse than going to the Dentist.

Whether it is a remote position or on-site, you want to be at your best.  You want to look your best whether it’s in person, or remote on a video call. If you are on a video call you want to make sure that your workspace is presentable and free of clutter.  What your manager sees in the video is a reflection of you and your work habits.

During the video meeting, listen to what is being said, try not to interrupt a speaker.  If you are asked a question, answer with confidence, if you don’t know the answer, be honest but volunteer to find out the answer and get back to them.

If you are working on-site, take lots of notes, ask questions that are relevant to what is being discussed.

First impressions are the most important to everyone, you may be on a call with your manager as well as the rest of the team so besides impressing the manager you want to show your confidence to the rest of the team.  They are the ones that you will be working with the most.
